During our last watchmaking appointment, that is to say, at 2015 Baselworld, yes again and again, Laurent Ferrier offered a new version of its just as classic Galet. This Galet Square watch reveals us something that it is uncommon to see, apart from Cartier‘s or Vacheron Constantin Harmony Collection‘s works, which is the tonneau-shaped case all in lightness. Time has enabled Laurent Ferrier to create this range of the famous Galet timepiece like the waves effects create differents sorts of minerals.

This Galet watch has a cushion shape which isn’t a complete break with the square original project. Thanks to its diameter of 41 x 41 mm, the watch claims to be more present on wrist than its inspiring predecessors, but also in the spirit of the times. Laurent Ferrier opens new possibilities for its creations with the steel case as precious and rare materials were used up to now.

Movement of the Galet Square by Laurent Ferrier

Speaking of the movement, the watch brand decides not to grant the Galet with an other revolution by keeping the FBN 299.01 calibre with self-winding. The latter is provided with a micro-rotor unidirectional with a ratchet system and a silicon escapement with two pulse centers on the balance wheel and a power reserve of tree days. This is the third exclusive known house-made movement of Laurent Ferrier, assembled and adjusted in their workshops.

The watch brand delivers movements with ingenious skills and aesthetically pleasing finishes in its Vernier workshop. On top of the 72 hours power reserve, the FBN 229.01 caliber increases the global energy-giving effectiveness of the movement thanks to a silicon escapement quoted previously.

The Galet Square  is available in three versions including two in steel and the third in solid pink gold. This latter has a chocolate-coloured dial to celebrate the brand’s 5th anniversary. The two others versions will be offered with on one hand a blue steel dial with 11 markers  and a well-matched strap, on the other hand with a golden sunray dial with only 3 markers.

As well as this novelty, Laurent Ferrier repeats its commitment to a great charity event, Only Watch, to fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy, under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. This watchmaking event is also important for watches amateurs and collectors who will not miss the presentation of the special edition of another version of the Galet Square by Laurent Ferrier the November, 7th 2015 in Geneva
